Vidya Bharati three-day Ghosh Varga begins

Agartala, 26th May 2026:  A three-day Ghosh Varga (Brass Band Training Camp), was inaugurated today at Tripureshwari Vidya Mandir, Gandhigram. The camp is being organised as part of preparations for the Amrit Kal celebrations marking 75 years of Vidya Bharati, to be held in Delhi next year.

A total of 65 students from various Vidya Bharati schools accross Tripura are participating in the camp. Four expert trainers will impart intensive training in shankh, bānsuri, side drum, and other brass band instruments during the programme.

The inaugural session was addressed by Dipen Rabha from Assam. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of brass band training at the school level, stating that it instills discipline, teamwork, rhythm, and a sense of national pride among students. “Ghosh is not just music; it is sādhanā of unity and anushāsan,” he said.

Subhas Ganchaudhuri, Secretary of Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity, Tripura, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He urged students to carry the values learnt in the varga back to their schools and prepare a well-coordinated band for the national celebration in Delhi.

Dhruba Mandal, Principal of Tripureswari Vidya Mandir, Gandhigram, attended as Guest of Honour. He delivered the vote of thanks to all participants and trainers and assured full cooperation for the successful conduct of the camp.

The varga will continue for three days with daily routines including morning jagaran, abhyās satra, baudhik, and sāyankālīn ghosh sādhanā. The training aims to prepare a state-level contingent to represent Tripura in the Vidya Bharati Amrit Kal celebrations next year.
