Agartala, 26th May 2026: After a delay of nearly two and a half hours, the Credit Outreach Programme organized by Punjab National Bank (PNB), lead bank of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), commenced at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, in the presence of Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, senior officials from NABARD, SBI, TGB, Union Bank of India, and others.
Addressing the gathering, Nagaraju announced a ₹500 crore project to extend loans and grants nationwide, underscoring the government’s commitment to financial inclusion. He highlighted achievements such as Net NPAs falling below 0.4 percent and the success of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, which has sanctioned nearly ₹26 lakh crore, largely benefiting women entrepreneurs. He also praised initiatives including PMJJBY, PMSBY, Atal Pension Yojana, PM SVANidhi, and Kisan Credit Card.
On the occasion, sanction letters worth ₹419.11 crore were distributed to 10,162 beneficiaries. CSR contributions included SBI’s ₹36.28 lakh for ambulance upgrades, NABARD’s ₹15.06 lakh for rural skill training, SIDBI’s ₹6.11 lakh for aromatic plant distillation, and UCO Bank’s ₹24.56 lakh for an ambulance. Secretary Sinha noted that DFS has introduced virtual inaugurations of CSPs, branches, and ATMs in Tripura, extending essential financial services to marginalized communities.
