Volunteer group formed at Sonamura to combat addiction

Agartala, 10th May 2026:   In a bid to steer the youth away from addiction and foster a healthier, more disciplined society, a new voluntary organization named Satyameva Jayate has been established in Sonamura.

The initiative formally began today with its first conference held at the Sonamura Town Hall, attended by nearly 70 members. Utpal Deb was elected as President, while Rakesh Chakraborty took charge as Secretary.

The inaugural event saw the presence of prominent social worker Shubhrajit Das and Sonamura Municipal Commissioner Jhuton Roy, among others. The organization aims to engage socially conscious youth from both Sonamura town and surrounding rural areas, with a mission to build a healthier and more disciplined community.

Following the conference, President Utpal Deb outlined the organization’s future programs, emphasizing collective responsibility and active participation of members in shaping Sonamura’s social environment.
