Agartala, 16th January 2026: Growing discontent is surfacing among voters in East Tripura as Member of Parliament Kriti Singh Debbarma faces criticism for her absence from her constituency and failure to deliver on pre-election promises.
Residents allege that despite making extensive commitments to improve the lives of villagers and hill communities before the polls, the MP has not been seen in the area since her victory. Basic issues such as access to drinking water, road connectivity, and healthcare remain unresolved, with no visible initiatives from Debbarma to address them.
Frustrated voters are now questioning whether their emotional support for a “royal family member” during the election has left them in this predicament. In South Tripura, locals complain that they have received no assistance from the MP’s Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD). Many believe Debbarma is more active on social media than in addressing the pressing concerns of her constituents.
Feeling betrayed, residents accuse the MP of “short-sightedness” and indifference. Discussions across the region reflect mounting anger over what people describe as her neglect of public responsibilities.
