Agartala, 30th April 2026: Tragedy struck Ward No. 5 of Radhanagar Gram Panchayat on Wednesday evening when the kitchen wall of a mud hut suddenly collapsed, burying two young brothers beneath the debris.
Five-year-old Ankush Malakar was pronounced dead at Fatikroy Primary Health Centre, while his elder brother Ayush sustained serious injuries and was transferred to Unakoti District Hospital at Kailashahar for treatment.
The children’s father, Nibas Malakar, works as a driver, and the family has long struggled with financial hardship. The incident has left the locality in shock, with neighbors rallying to support the grieving mother and grandmother.
Fatikroy police station staff have launched an investigation. Ankush’s body has been sent for post-mortem before being handed over to the family.
The collapse has not only claimed a young life but also deepened the despair of a family already battling poverty.
