West Agartala police nab five suspects, seize stolen batteries and illegal goods

Agartala, 6th June 2025:   West Agartala police successfully conducted two separate operations, leading to the arrest of five individuals in connection with battery theft and the recovery of illegally stored Banarasi saris.

Speaking to reporters here today, SDPO Debaprasad Roy stated that a complaint was lodged a few days ago regarding the theft of two batteries from the court complex premises. Acting on the complaint, police launched an operation in Battala, arresting five suspects Amitabh Das, Pintu Barman, Kinkar Deb, Faruk Mia and Titon. Police recovered the stolen batteries, and a case has been filed against the accused under specific legal provisions. Authorities have sought a three-day police remand for further investigation.

In a separate operation, police acted on intelligence reports indicating the illegal storage of garments at a residence in the Border Gol Chakkar area. Officers raided the property belonging to Aman Chauhan, recovering 62 Banarasi saris with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 3 lakh. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the matter.
