Agartala, 7th December 2025:   The West Agartala Police on Sunday recovered 27 stolen mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners in a significant boost to theft victims across the district.

Addressing the media at the West Agartala Police Station, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak said that 22 of the recovered handsets were traced and retrieved using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a government-backed system that helps track lost or stolen mobile devices. The remaining phones were recovered through regular investigation and follow-up field operations.

The SP stressed the need for greater public awareness to tackle rising cyber-related offences. He cautioned citizens not to share One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or personal details with unknown callers, noting that fraudsters often impersonate legitimate service providers to lure unsuspecting victims.

After completing the necessary formalities, the recovered mobile phones were handed over to their owners, bringing closure and relief to those affected by the thefts.
