West Agartala PS and Army Intelligence officials arrested 11 Bangladeshi nationals

Agartala, September 07, 2022: In a joint operation, West Agartala police station staff and Army’s Intelligence department on Tuesday night arrested 11 Bangladeshi citizens from Ramnagar area here in the capital city.

West Agartala police station official told reporters that “From the SP office of West Tripura district, we received a secret information at about 11.30 PM that some Bangladeshi people are residing at Mukti Sangha, Ramnagar road number 5. Accordingly, we carried out a raid at Mukti Sangha and arrested 11 persons of Bangladesh. Preliminarily interrogating them, we have come to know that they are mason by profession and staying here to earn some money. Mobiles and currencies of India and Bangladesh were recovered from their possession.”

According to the case registered, it is found that 10 are of Bangladesh while another one claimed to be a resident of Teliamura. The arrestees are- Abdul Awal Ali (18), Md Jashim Ali (18), Md Samrul Ali (20), Ismail Miah (42) of Bangladesh, Jahidul Islam (37), Tarikh Sheikh (27), Md Rakip (24), Md Suhel (26), Sahim Ali (24), Shamin Ali (23) and Md Anwar Hosen Bhuiya (41) of Gamaibari under Teliamura sub-division.Notably, West Tripura police station staff arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals from Rajnagar area in the outskirts of the Agartala city on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
