West SP Kiran Kumar raids four markets, AD Nagar PS seizes illegally stored foreign liquors

Agartala, 17th October 2024:   In compliance with the order of Tripura High Court, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar led raids in Battala, Maharajganj Bazar, Durga Chowmuhani, and Lake Chowmuhani markets on Wednesday evening coinciding with Lakshmi Puja.

During the operation, a significant number of high-powered sound systems were confiscated. Superintendent Kiran Kumar stated that the police would take stringent action against the traders involved, filing cases under specific sections of the law.

Simultaneously, AD Nagar police station conducted raids to seize illegally stored foreign liquor. Despite prior warnings from the police administration and the Environment Pollution Control Board, some traders continued to sell prohibited items during the Puja days.

The police recovered a large quantity of foreign liquor and other contraband from the market area of the camp at night. The accused managed to flee the scene, but the OC of AD Nagar police station confirmed that a case has been registered against him under the relevant sections.
