Agartala, 19th January 2026 :  An elderly widow Kalpana Debbarma of Vidya Luchan area under Simna assembly constituency has made a desperate appeal for assistance from local leaders, ministers and kind-hearted members of society.

Kalpana, who lost her husband years back, is now battling severe illness and complete blindness. Both her eyes have deteriorated to the point that she cannot see at all. Due to financial hardship, she has been unable to afford medical treatment and has been living in extreme distress.

Speaking to the media personnel here, she pleaded for help from Simna MLA and Tripura’s Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Brishaketu Debbarma, as well as MDC EM Rabindra Debbarma. She also appealed to the wider community for compassion and support.

In her emotional statement, Kalpana said, “If I could see even with one eye, I would have survived by begging for food. But now I am completely helpless.”

Her words reflect the dire situation faced by many vulnerable individuals in rural Tripura who struggle without access to healthcare or social security. The question now remains whether the concerned authorities and community leaders will extend a helping hand to this destitute woman.
