Without raising tariff Government begins modernization power: Deputy Chief Minister

Agartala: August 23. Power Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Tuesday lashed out at the opposition CPIM for misguiding people with false statement and claimed that the his government without raising tariff have taken up a massive modernization power across the state.

Dev Varma who also holds the post of deputy chief minister said, “We have given franchisee in 5 loss making divisions where they gave connections to their cadres without any records thus they were enjoying free. Franchisee only when they make profit it will be shared fifty fifty with them. We had third party evaluations of the franchisee through central government agency”.

He further said that without raising tariff we have taken up a massive modernization in generation distribution and transmission sourcing funds from international agencies without cutting the pockets of the consumers so it’s taking some time. Large number of substation inauguration some more to come up for voltage stability and to stop tripping.

“Direct line from Ambassa to Gandacherra to be functional from December upto Ganganagar already inaugurated last year. Fund was there during their (CPIM) time but did not implement for 12 years so NEC scrapped the project Rs 12 cr taken back. I came and got it back and project more than half finished and by December it will reach Gandacherra”, the DyCM said.

He further lashed out the then left front government saying that it was the CPIM who has increased tariff during their regime.
