Woman approaches Media Alleging Prolonged Abuse by In-Laws in Sabroom

Date:

Agartala, 25th June 2026:    Alleging years of physical and mental harassment by her husband and in-laws, a homemaker from Harinatila under Dolbari in Sabroom subdivision has approached the media seeking justice and administrative intervention.

According to reports, Papiya Nath, daughter of Sajal Nath of Harinatila, was socially married to Subir Debnath, son of Gopal Debnath, a resident of Thakurchhara under Jolaibari Block. Papiya alleges that soon after her marriage, she became the victim of continuous mental and physical abuse at her matrimonial home.

Speaking about her ordeal, Papiya claimed that several attempts were made at the panchayat level to resolve the family dispute and restore peace. Although the situation improved temporarily following these interventions, she alleged that the harassment resumed after some time.

The homemaker further accused her husband Subir Debnath, father-in-law Gopal Debnath, and mother-in-law Mallika Debnath of regularly subjecting her to physical and mental torture. She also alleged that her husband frequently returns home under the influence of alcohol and behaves abusively, often assaulting her.

Seeking justice, Papiya Nath has appealed for a proper investigation into the matter and urged the concerned authorities to take necessary action. As of now, no response from the accused family members has been reported.

The allegations are yet to be independently verified, and an official investigation is awaited.
