Woman held with dry cannabis at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 28th February 2025:   Acting on a tip-off, police have seized 5.995 kg of dry cannabis and arrested a woman from another state. The arrested individual will be presented in court for police remand, confirmed Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das.

OC Tapas Das explained, “We received confidential information that a person would be attempting to smuggle cannabis through the Agartala railway station. Based on this intel, we conducted a raid in the vicinity of the railway station.”

During the operation, a suspicious woman was detained. Upon searching her, the police found 5.995 kg of dry cannabis. The arrested woman, identified as Payel from Bihar, will be presented in court for police remand, Das added.

The police’s swift action based on reliable information has led to a significant drug seizure, highlighting their ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the region.
