Agartala, 7th February 2026 : A woman lost her life in a tragic road accident near the PTG office on the Agartala–Sabroom National Highway. The deceased has been identified as Giribala Debnath, a resident of KC Para in Santirbazar.
Locals reported that a tipper truck bearing registration number TR03G1509 struck the woman with force and fled the scene immediately. Locals rushed the severely injured victim to South Tripura District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Following the incident, bystanders attempted to chase down the fleeing vehicle. Santirbazar police, led by Second Officer Samir Biswas, reached the spot and initiated efforts to intercept the truck.
Police have launched an investigation and are conducting a search operation to trace and seize the offending vehicle.
