Agartala, 18th December 2024:   Woodlands Hospital, the first private hospital in eastern India, is undergoing a significant transformation to enhance its capacity and services. The hospital is adding 150 new beds and upgrading its infrastructure to provide even better care to patients from Bengal, neighbouring states, and nearby countries.

As part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Woodlands Hospital is committed to innovation and excellence. The ongoing development project, which is on at full swing and will be commissioned by early 2026, includes constructing a state-of-the-art 10-story building within its existing premises at 8/5, Alipore Road, Kolkata. This expansion will feature a world-class, centre with advanced multi super specialties and cutting-edge treatments including a comprehensive cancer care centre. The project will enable the hospital to deliver superior service excellence with dedicated, spacious areas for all departments.

Woodlands has consistently operated on the principle that every patient deserves standardized care of the highest global standards, delivered every time. This commitment is achieved through strict adherence to established protocols, guidelines, and comprehensive quality checks. To uphold these standards, the hospital has invested significant effort and successfully secured prestigious accreditations, including NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers), NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), and ISO 27000 for safety standards, granted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). These accreditations are rigorously evaluated and renewed periodically, ensuring sustained excellence in patient care and operational efficiency.

Woodlands Hospital has achieved several pioneering milestones in eastern India, including setting up the region’s first cath lab and performing its first bypass surgery. Initially established as a birthing clinic for European women, Woodlands has grown into a multispecialty tertiary care hospital. Over the years, it has served more than six million patients, conducted over 300,000 surgeries, and welcomed 50,000 newborns into the world.

Innovation remains at the core of Woodlands Hospital’s operations. The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as the Siemens 256-slice, 768-reconstruction dual-source dual-energy Model Somatom Drive CT and the Siemens Model Magnetom Verio 3 Tesla MRI machines. These advanced devices support cardiac MR applications and high-end neuro imaging, making them some of the best in the city. The hospital also boasts four modular operation theatres (OTs) designed to provide optimal environments for surgeons and a well-equipped cath lab.

The hospital is all set to introduce AI-enabled robotic surgery, to enhance precision, improve patient outcomes, and reduce recovery times through advanced technological support.

“We are proud to serve not only residents of Kolkata but also people from across the region. Recently, we successfully treated a patient from a remote Tripura village using an advanced interventional radiology procedure after an unsuccessful surgery at another hospital left her critically ill. At Woodlands, our commitment to innovation and our association with the best doctors distinguish us and enable us to provide care that meets global standards,” said Mr. Rupak Barua, Managing Director & CEO of Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital Ltd.
