Workshop in North Tripura aims to combat child trafficking and raise public awareness

Agartala, 20th June 2024:   A significant workshop addressing child trafficking and public awareness was conducted in North Tripura district on Thursday. Hosted in the District Magistrate’s office, the event was a collaborative effort by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights and North Tripura district administration.

Chairperson of the TCPCR Jayanti Debbarma, District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, North Tripura District Child Welfare Committee Chairman Pranakrishna Pal, and Social Welfare Inspector Prasenjit Debbarma were present. The workshop also saw participation from various departmental officials and Child Welfare Committee members.

In her address, Jayanti Debbarma emphasized the state’s ongoing efforts to halt child trafficking, highlighting similar initiatives in other districts and schools. District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan underscored the importance of addressing operational challenges faced by anti-trafficking workers. NCPCR consultant Sonakshi Radhika provided a detailed overview of child trafficking issues and prevention strategies, stressing the urgency of the matter.
