World AIDS Day observed at Bir Bikram Memorial College with poster and rangoli competitions

Agartala, 11th December 2025:   The NSS Unit of BBMC today observed World AIDS Day by organizing a Poster Making and Rangoli Making Competition at the college premises, with support from the Tripura State AIDS Control Society. The programme aimed to enhance awareness about AIDS and encourage youth participation in combating the disease.

A total of 20 students participated in the Poster Making Competition and 15 students took part in the Rangoli Making Competition. Both activities were held on the theme Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response, allowing students to creatively express messages on AIDS awareness, prevention, and social responsibility.

The programme was attended by Associate Professor and Academic Convener Dr. Jiban Krishna Patra, Associate Professor and NAAC Coordinator Dr. Sanjoy Chakraborty, and Associate Professor and Science Forum Convener Dr. Nandini Gupta. NSS Programme Officer and Assistant Professor Shyani Debbarma thanked all participating students, volunteers, faculty members, and judges for their contributions to the successful conduct of the event. He also extended gratitude to the Tripura State AIDS Control Society for sponsoring the initiative.

In the Poster Making Competition, Sourav Modak (1st semester) secured the first prize, followed by Koyel Majumder (1st semester) in second place, and Biswadip Ghosh (5th semester) in third place. In the Rangoli Making Competition, Payel Bhomick (1st semester) won the first prize, while Puja Chowdhory (1st semester) and Sangita Roy (5th semester) claimed the second and third prizes respectively.

The event concluded with a strong sense of accomplishment and a renewed commitment among students and faculty to actively spread awareness about AIDS and support initiatives that strengthen the AIDS response.
