World Bank’s 5th implementation support mission to strengthen TRESP progress in Tripura

Agartala, 10th January 2026:   A World Bank delegation is scheduled to visit Tripura from 11 January 2026 as part of the 5th Implementation Support Mission (ISM) to review the progress of the World Bank–funded Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), implemented under the Tribal Welfare Department.

The visiting team comprises specialists in education, procurement, transport, and livelihoods sector, who will closely monitor the implementation status, institutional coordination, and field-level impact of the project. This routine visit of the Internal Support mission aims to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement of TRESP interventions across the state.

During the visit, the World Bank team will interact with multiple Project Implementing Units (PIUs) including Fisheries, Agriculture, Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD), Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), Education Department, Department of Information Technology (DoIT), and PWD, which are implementing project components across 8 districts and 23 ADC blocks. The team members also visit SIPARD and T-SAC to review capacity building Trainings ,GIS based application process etc.All stakeholder line departments have been formally notified and are actively preparing for the mission.

A kick-off meeting will be held on 12 January under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department, followed by separate review meetings with the seven PIUs and two support agencies, chaired by concerned senior officials. The World Bank team will also undertake district visits to assess operational progress and outcomes on the ground.

As part of the mission, the delegation will meet Producer Groups (PGs) and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) formed under TRESP, and interact with project officials and line departments to understand achievements, challenges, and best practices.

The World Bank team will remain in Tripura till 16 January 2026, with the mission concluding through a wrap-up meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, Tripura, marking an important milestone in the project’s implementation cycle.

The 5th ISM visit has already generated visible preparedness and coordination among stakeholder departments across all eight districts, reflecting the strong institutional commitment towards ensuring the successful implementation of TRESP and accelerating inclusive rural and tribal socio-economic development in Tripura.
