World Braille Day celebrated in Agartala with various programs

Agartala, January 04: The birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille script for the blind, was celebrated as World Braille Day at the Agartala press club on Thursday. The event was organized by the All Tripura Blind Association and was attended by West District’s DM Dr Vishal Kumar and other dignitaries.

The event included cultural programs, discussion meetings, distribution of mobility aids and felicitation of meritorious students. The general secretary of the association, Mithun Saha, said that the main objective of the program was to support the blind and bring them into the realm of education. He said that blind students participated enthusiastically in the event and showcased their talents. He also urged the government and the society to provide more opportunities for the blind to excel in various fields.

The District Magistrate praised the efforts of the association and said that the administration would try to do whatever was possible for the welfare of the blind. He said that the administration was giving priority to how to empower the blind and make them self-reliant. He also thanked the people for their cooperation and support.
