Agartala, 26th April 2026 : North Tripura district marked World Malaria Day with extensive awareness and preventive activities across malaria-endemic areas, achieving a significant milestone of zero positive malaria cases during the screening drive.
Observed under the theme “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must,” the district administration organized a series of programmes including special health camps, awareness campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.
As part of the special health camps and IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) campaigns, a total of 1,272 people were screened using Rapid Diagnostic Kits and microscopy tests across multiple health sub-centres under various PHCs, CHCs, and SDHs. Notably, no malaria-positive cases were detected during the exercise.

Orientation programmes were held in health institutions to educate staff and patients about malaria symptoms, prevention, and treatment. Additionally, a school-level awareness programme was conducted at Gomohanpara SB School under Dasda PHC, where 46 students participated. A quiz competition was also organized to engage students and promote awareness.
Community message dissemination programmes were conducted at Dharmanagar Railway Station and nearby areas, while a mega rally at Anandabazar bazar helped spread awareness among the general public through placards and public announcements.
The Chief Medical Officer of North Tripura highlighted that the coordinated efforts reflect the district’s commitment to malaria elimination through sustained awareness and proactive healthcare measures.
