Agartala, 30th May 2025:   A youth involved in drug abuse was caught red-handed stealing and selling a bike for money in Bardhepa area of Telkajla leading to his arrest by Melaghar Police.

It is reported that local resident Siraj Mia and his grandson parked their bike at Bardhepa School before heading to Tilla to check on their livestock 15 days back. However, upon their return, they found the bike missing. Despite extensive searches, they failed to locate it.

Unexpectedly, news surfaced today that the suspected thief had been booked by local residents, who tied him up in front of a shop. The accused identified as Riyaz Ahmed from the same area confessed to stealing the bike and selling it for Rs 4,500 to Abu Mia, a mechanic near Sonamura playground. Ahmed reportedly used the proceeds to purchase drugs from various illicit sources in Rangamatia, Sonamura.

Following the incident, Melaghar Police detained Ahmed and initiated proceedings against Abu Mia for buying the stolen vehicle. Authorities indicate that Ahmed is a repeat offender, frequently engaging in theft to fund his drug addiction.
