Agartala, 30th May 2025: A No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) camp was organized today at Gomati District Hospital, aiming to enhance male involvement in family planning efforts. A total of five eligible men opted for the procedure, which is considered a safe and effective method of permanent contraception.
The medical team led by Dr. Biswajit Pal and assisted by Dr. Samaresh Bhowmik carried out the procedures. Dr. Pal emphasized the advantages of male sterilization over female sterilization, citing minimal incision, reduced pain, faster recovery and fewer complications compared to tubal ligation. He reassured that NSV does not affect marital life, dispelling misconceptions that often discourage male participation.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Arjun Saha highlighted that under Mission Parivar Vikas, each beneficiary receives a one-time incentive of Rs 3,000 – Rs 1,000 more than the amount offered for female sterilization.
Chief Health Officer Kamal Reang commended the role of health workers from various centers, including Darya Bagma Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Purba Dhwajanagar Ayushman Arogya Mandir and Maharani Health and Wellness Center in sensitizing and counseling attendees about the procedure.
