Agartala, 9th November 2023 : A tragic road accident claimed the life of a youth on the Assam-Agartala National Highway near Teliamura Town Hall on Thursday. The victim, identified as Rustom Debbarma, was riding a bike when he tried to overtake a truck and lost control of his vehicle. He was crushed under the truck’s wheel and died on the spot.
The incident occurred around noon, when a truck was heading from Teliamura to Agartala. A bike with the registration number TR-0689436 attempted to pass the truck from the left side, but collided with the truck’s rear tyre and fell under it. The truck driver stopped the vehicle and informed the local people, who called the fire brigade.
The firemen arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the deceased. They took him to the nearest hospital for post-mortem examination. A police officer said that the youth was wearing a helmet, but it could not save him from the fatal injury. He said that a case has been registered and the truck driver has been detained for further investigation.
