Youth drowns during Kali idol immersion at Narsingarh; Local MLA visits site

Agartala, 25th October 2025:   A 23-year-old youth tragically drowned while immersing a Kali idol in a pond at Narsingarh, triggering shock and grief across the locality. The incident took place around 6:30 PM yesterday, prompting swift response from local authorities and political representatives.

The deceased identified as Sagar Das is a resident of the area reportedly entered the pond during the immersion ritual but was unable to resurface due to the depth of the water. Locals immediately alerted the Airport Police Station and the fire brigade. After nearly three hours of intensive search operations, rescue personnel recovered his body from beneath the water.

The incident drew widespread attention, with Barjala MLA Sudip Sarkar and local party leaders rushing to the scene to assess the situation and offer condolences. According to family sources, Sagar had taken a photograph with his mother just moments before the fatal immersion.
