Agartala, 25th October 2025: A sudden police barricade blocking the convoy of former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik sparked intense drama at Ambassa today, as she was en route to attend an organizational event in Dharmanagar. The unexpected obstruction triggered a fiery outburst from Bhoumik, who accused the administration of selectively targeting her while failing to act during recent violent incidents.
Visibly agitated, Bhoumik lashed out at the police, stating, “I’m being stopped by my own party’s barricade. But where were these barricades when TCS officers were assaulted during the bandh?” Her remarks referenced recent unrest in Santirbazar, where she alleged that bandh supporters engaged in widespread misconduct under the guise of tribal welfare.
“Those who called the bandh claimed to support tribal communities, yet they harmed them the most,” Bhoumik said. “When Tipra Motha’s picketing needed to be stopped, where were you? Now I’m heading for party work, and you choose to block me?” she asked.
The incident stirred unease among local officials present at the scene, as Bhoumik’s criticism extended beyond the immediate blockade. She accused the police of failing to protect BJP workers from repeated attacks and questioned the integrity of the administration. “You’re no longer part of the government — the government has become part of you. You’ve dismantled it and now seem intent on finishing what’s left,” she said, calling the blockade a “staged drama.”
Her remarks, delivered in full public view caused visible discomfort among officers and ignited fresh political ripples across Tripura. Bhoumik further warned that such actions were tarnishing the state’s image and stemmed from administrative negligence.
Following the confrontation, her convoy was eventually allowed to proceed, and she resumed her journey to Dharmanagar. However, her pointed criticism and emotional outburst have triggered renewed debate within political circles. Party insiders suggest her comments reflect deeper organizational discontent and highlight growing unease over law enforcement’s role in politically sensitive situations.
