Agartala, 21st September 2026 : A young man has been arrested by Teliamura police in connection with an alleged rape of a minor girl in the Maiganga area under the Krishnapur Assembly constituency.
The case came to light after a complaint concerning the minor was lodged at Teliamura Police Station. Considering the seriousness of the allegation, police promptly initiated an investigation into the matter.
Sub-Inspector Sumitra Debbarma led the investigation, following which police arrested the accused for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Police have registered Case No. 53 at Teliamura Police Station under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused was produced before the court following his arrest, police said. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and examine the allegations made in the complaint.
The incident has sparked concern in Maiganga, where news of the arrest has caused considerable local reaction.
