Agartala, 5th January 2026: An 18-year-old youth went missing after a boat overturned at the Dumboor Water Reservoir near Narikelkunj yesterday evening. The victim has been identified as Dharmajit Chakma, a resident of Gandacherra.
Locals reported that Dharmajit fell into the water during the mishap and failed to resurface. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Fire & Emergency Services immediately launched a search operation, but efforts through last night yielded no results.
Search operations resumed early this morning with boats and divers deployed to comb the reservoir. The incident has sparked deep concern among locals, with family members and residents gathering at the site in anxious anticipation.
Authorities have assured that the operation will continue until the missing youth is located. Details regarding the circumstances that led to the boat’s capsizing are yet to be confirmed.
