Agartala, 3rd May 2026: Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has criticized certain political parties for allegedly sidelining young people while using them during movements without giving them real leadership roles.
In a video message from Mumbai, where he is currently undergoing treatment, he marked the foundation day of the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) and highlighted what he described as the importance of youth leadership in politics.
He said that in the past, young people were often placed at the forefront of protests, sometimes facing police action, but were later overlooked when it came to positions of power. According to him, real opportunities were instead given to a small group of senior leaders.
Clarifying that he respects older generations, he emphasized that the current era belongs to the younger population, noting that a large majority of Tripura’s people are under the age of 35. He argued that decision-makers must be familiar with modern technology and connected to the aspirations of today’s generation in order to serve effectively.
He added that organizations like YTF, along with student wings such as TISF, should play a key role in shaping the future, with a focus on honesty, responsibility, and grassroots work in villages to tackle issues like corruption.
Pradyot urged unity among young supporters, saying they should avoid internal conflicts and work together with a common purpose. He expressed confidence that if the youth remain united and committed, they could achieve strong results in upcoming Village Council elections as well as the 2028 Assembly polls, calling it a time for youth leadership to take charge.
