Agartala, 19th December 2025:  Members of the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of the Tipra Motha Party, held a protest on Friday outside the office of the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala.

The demonstration was organised in response to remarks allegedly made by a Bangladeshi political leader that were perceived as hostile toward Northeast India.

Led by YTF president Suraj Debbarma, protesters raised slogans expressing concern over statements that, according to them, challenged India’s sovereignty and targeted diplomatic institutions. The demonstrators said the protest reflected public sentiment rather than any immediate political agenda.

Speaking to the media, Debbarma claimed that a recent speech delivered near the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh contained remarks that were threatening in nature. He said such statements had caused anxiety among people in the Northeast and undermined regional stability.

Debbarma highlighted India’s historical role in the formation of Bangladesh and stressed the importance of maintaining mutual respect between the two neighbouring nations. He expressed disappointment over what he described as increasing anti-India rhetoric and warned that such narratives could damage long-standing ties.

The YTF leader also cautioned that continued hostile statements could provoke strong reactions among communities in the Northeast. He urged the Indian government to closely monitor developments and take appropriate diplomatic steps to ensure national security and regional peace.

The protest concluded peacefully, with YTF members reiterating their commitment to safeguarding India’s territorial integrity and calling for dialogue and restraint on both sides of the border.
