Agartala, August 08, 2022: Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday applauded the role of a youth Kishore Majumder of Charilam assembly constituency for becoming self-reliant at present through his shop of selling ‘betel leaf’.

He said, “Inspired by the self-reliance concept created in the state as a result of the positive steps taken by the current BJP-led coalition government, Kishore Majumdar of Charilam is self-reliant today through his ‘betel leaf’ shop.”

Speaking to media persons at Charilam, Deb said “Tripura youths are developing a mentality of becoming self-reliant as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi want the country to become self-reliant. I am not against government employment or service holders, there is need of employment to run the administration. But every youth whatever higher education qualification is, should have a way of becoming self-reliant.”

“In 2018 also, I have told that the youths should set up at least a betel leaf shop in order to earn some money instead of sitting at home waiting for government job. Here is Kishore Majumder, he had set up a shop of selling betel leaf in 2019 by borrowing a loan of Rs 10,000 under Panchayat scheme. Now he earn about Rs 14,000 per month”, said former CM.

He also said “I will say, youths should engaged themselves with any work. There is abundance of windows open for youths to earn their livelihood, initiatives like ease of doing business, simplification of rules, GST introduced, facilities in the field of rubber, paddy, etc were taken.”
