Agartala, 28th June 2026:   A young man’s body was recovered from the Howrah River in Agartala’s Gangail area on Sunday, prompting a police investigation into what is suspected to be a case of murder.

The deceased has been identified as Ramjan Ali, popularly known as Titon. The incident created tension in the locality after morning walkers at the newly developed riverside park spotted bloodstains near the riverbank and alerted the police.Upon arriving at the scene, investigators examined the area and suspected that a body had been dumped into the river. Police had reportedly received information about the youth’s disappearance the previous night.

A joint search operation was launched under the supervision of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration. Personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, Civil Defence, and Fire and Emergency Services carried out an extensive search in the Howrah River. After several hours, the teams recovered Ramjan Ali’s body from the river.
