Agartala, 4th May 2025:  In response to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s call for a drug-free Tripura, anti-drug efforts have gained momentum across the state. As part of this initiative, the 8-Town Bardowali Yuva Morcha took decisive action today.

Led by Yuva Morcha President Padmanabha Saha, karyakartas conducted a campaign in the Bhattapukur area under Ward No. 33. Local residents had long alleged that Suman Deb and his nephew Prashanta Ghosh were involved in drug trafficking in the area.

In a raid carried out in the presence of Bardowali Corporator Abhijit Mallik, Yuva Morcha workers found a significant quantity of illegal substances at the residence of Suman Deb. “This is a major breakthrough in our fight against drugs. The community has suffered enough, and it is time to reclaim our streets,” said Mallik.

Following the raid, Deb was immediately booked and handed over to the police. Although his nephew, Ghosh was not present at the time, Yuva Morcha sources assured that he would be located and handed over to the authorities soon. “We will not stop until every drug dealer is brought to justice,” stated a leader from the Morcha.

Local residents welcomed the intervention, expressing hope that this action would mark a turning point in their battle against drug addiction. “For years, we have seen young people fall victim to this menace. Now, there is hope for a safer community,” said one resident.
