Agartala, 23rd December 2025: National Farmers Day was meaningfully celebrated at Madhab Bari ADC Village, West Tripura, during an ongoing five-day Pickle Making Training Programme being organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra from 22 to 26 December 2025. The programme is being conducted with the support of Mukul Madhav Foundation, CSR partner Finolex Industries Limited, and technical assistance from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura.
The celebration aimed to recognize the invaluable contribution of farmers to the nation while simultaneously enhancing their livelihood opportunities through skill development and scientific agricultural practices.
The National Farmers Day programme was organized in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Tripura, and witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries, scientists, local leaders, and farmers. The key dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. Ganesh Das, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK West Tripura; Mr. Jayanta Das, VC Secretary, Madhab Bari ADC Village; Mr. Debashis Majumder, President, Yuva Vikash Kendra; Dr. Maibam Baby Devi, Subject Matter Specialist; and Dr. Nagaraju M.C., Subject Matter Specialist.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Debashis Majumder, President of Yuva Vikash Kendra, who highlighted the significance of celebrating National Farmers Day and emphasized the need for empowering farmers through skill-based training, value addition, and scientific interventions to strengthen rural livelihoods.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ganesh Das, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK West Tripura, elaborated on the Government of India’s initiative “Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)”. He explained how this mission aims to ensure employment, sustainable livelihoods, and economic stability for rural farmers, and discussed the wide-ranging benefits farmers can access through various government schemes.
Jayanta Das, VC Secretary, Madhab Bari ADC Village, warmly welcomed all dignitaries and participating farmers. He appreciated the initiative and highlighted how such awareness programmes and training sessions are directly beneficial to local farmers by enhancing their knowledge, income opportunities, and overall development.
During the interactive session, farmers actively engaged with scientists from KVK, discussing seasonal crop planning, diversified vegetable cultivation, and improved agricultural practices. The interaction provided practical insights and solutions tailored to local farming conditions.
The programme was effectively coordinated by Pratima Debbarma, Birju Debbarma, and Muses Debbarma, along with active support from local farmers’ leader Jharna Debbarma.
As a gesture of encouragement and support, 11 varieties of vegetable seeds were distributed to each participating farmer at the conclusion of the programme, promoting kitchen gardening and sustainable agricultural practices.
The celebration of National Farmers Day at Madhab Bari reaffirmed the collective commitment of Yuva Vikash Kendra, KVK West Tripura, and partner organizations towards strengthening farmer livelihoods and promoting rural development through knowledge, skill, and collaboration.
