Gurubabu Balaraman has assumed charge as

Director (News) Doordarshan, Chennai.

Prior to this posting, he was Director (Media & Communications) in

Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chennai and also held the additional

charge as Deputy Press Registrar, Registrar for Newspaper of India.

Gurubabu started his career as News Editor in All India Radio, Chennai

in 1995.

He has over two and half decades of service in several media units of

the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting including Doordarshan in

managerial capacities.

He is well conversant in four languages including English, Tamil, Telugu

and Hindi. He has rich experience in covering Parliamentary and Assembly

proceedings, General and Assembly Elections besides international

conferences, according to an official release from PIB.
