Elaborate arrangements have been made for the first phase of polling for 43 Assembly seats in Jharkhand which will begin at 7 am on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar said on Tuesday that all preparations have been completed for voting tomorrow.
In the first phase, polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. The voters standing in queues will be allowed to cast their votes after the end of polling time.
He said that as per the Election Commission of India’s guidelines no outsider will be allowed to remain at the polling booths.
Kumar said that privacy of voting is essential. Hence, it is illegal to take mobiles, taking photos, making videos inside the polling station. There is also a provision for punishment if caught doing so, the CEO added.
A total of 1.37 crore voters will exercise their franchise in the first phase of election, he said. Among them, 68.73 lakh are male voters and 68.36 lakh are female voters. There are 303 third gender voters.
The number of voters above 85 years are 63,601, 1.91 lakh disabled voters and 6.51 lakh voters between 18-19 years.
