Body of a woman under 30s with smashed head was recovered from a river bank in West Bengal’s Purulia district on Thursday.
The body was recovered barely 24 hours after the recovery of acid burn body of a Class XII girl was found in Krishnanagar the district headquarters of Nadia, official sources said.
Police and eye witnesses said the body with marks of injuries and smashed head was uncovered from the Kumari River bank at Burrabazar area of Purulia district, a border town of neighbouring Jharkhand.
The unidentified body of the woman, wearing jeans, buried under the loose sands, was uncovered this morning.
The district police began an investigation to identify the body and sent information to all the nearest police stations, including Jharkhand.
The latest crime was known a day after a teenage girl, who was missing since Tuesday afternoon was found at a vacant Durga Puja pandal in Nadia district headquarters Krishnanagar.
The face of the 12th class girl student was burnt with acid and her body was semi clad when the body was found by the local people in the early morning on Wednesday.
Police arrested a person suspected to be the boyfriend of the victim, after her parents lodged a complaint with the Kotwali police station.
The body was being taken to the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial hospital at Kalyani on Thursday for autopsy under the supervision of a Magistrate, official sources said.
The Left parties, including activists of CPI(M) DYFI and SFI, began a demonstration in front of the Hospital demanding videography of the post mortem and CBI probe.
The parents of the victim also demanded CBI investigation.
