Four persons were killed and two injured after their mini truck turned turtle hurling them nearly 40-ft down from a bridge in West Bengal’s Howrah district early on Friday, official sources said.
The mini-truck, laden with clothes, heading to the Ankurhati wholesale market in Howrah turned turtle after one of the tyres of the four-wheeler burst hurling all six occupants of the open hooded truck to 40-ft down from the Nevedita Setu’s toll plaza.
All the injured were taken to the Uttarpara general hospital where the medics declared four dead.
The identification of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
The mini-truck was coming from Habra in North 24 Parganas, the Bally Police station probing the mishap said.
The mishap occurred around 0330 hours today.
