The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved establishment of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), a phygital platform to engage the youth of the country.
Briefing media on Cabinet decisions, Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Anurag Thakur said MY Bharat platform would help the youth get associated with various government programmes and schemes.
“MY Bharat is going to be such an aspirational body where crores of youth from within the country and also outside it would get an opportunity to get connected. The platform will play a crucial role in making India a developed and Aatmanirbhar country,” Thakur said.
He said the platform would be dedicated to the nation on October 31, the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Minister said MY Bharat platform can act as a one-stop platform for young people and Ministries.
It will also create a centralised database of the youth and enable better alignment between youth aspirations and community needs.
A government statement said that MY Bharat will benefit the youth in the age-group of 15-29 years, in line with the definition of ‘Youth’ in the National Youth Policy.
“The primary objective of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) is to make it a whole of Government platform for youth development,” it said.
The statement further said, “Under the new arrangement, with access to resources and connection to opportunities, youth would become community change agents and nation builders allowing them to act as the Yuva Setu between the Government and the citizens. It seeks to harness the immense youth energy for nation-building.”
