CDPO arrested for misappropriation of govt funds

 The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of criminal misconduct against Ms. Anishetty Sridevi, the former Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project in Jainoor, Adilabad district.

Presently stationed at the Office of the Director of Women Development and Child Welfare, Hyderabad, Sridevi is under investigation for alleged corrupt practices.

During her tenure as CDPO at the ICDS Project in Jainoor from 2015 to 2016, Sridevi was accused of performing her public duty dishonestly and improperly. The charges state that she misappropriated government funds amounting to Rs. 65,78,467 intended for the distribution of milk to innocent tribal children, an ACB statement said on Friday.

The accused officer stands accused of abusing her official position and resorting to corrupt and illegal means to obtain pecuniary gain and undue advantage. This resulted in a corresponding loss to the government exchequer, as false statements were allegedly created for incurring expenses under the “Arogyalaxmi milk supply” to 322 Anganwadi centers.

In a significant development, the accused, AO Ms. Anishetty Sridevi, was arrested during the course of the investigation on Thursday at 1400 hours.

She is set to be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court at Karimnagar, the statement added.
