Former Minister and BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) asserted that the Challo Medigada program is designed to expose the truth.
Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan before heading to Medigadda on Friday morning, KTR strongly criticised the Telangana Congress government, accusing them of neglecting their responsibilities for political gain.
Expressing concern, KTR highlighted the Congress party’s prioritisation of political benefits over farmers’ welfare, emphasising that the ongoing tour is just the beginning. He urged swift action against those responsible for Medigadda damages, stressing that farmers should not suffer the consequences. KTR also warned of potential flood risks if necessary repairs are not promptly undertaken.
Former Speaker and Senior BRS leader Pocharma Srinivas Reddy lauded the Laleswaram lift irrigation project as the world’s largest, extracting water from depths of 500 to 600 meters.
While acknowledging completed projects like Bima and Netam Padu, Reddy pointed out technical defects in the nationwide project, urging their rectification.
He cautioned against jeopardizing farmers’ interests for political gains and advocated for the timely filling with water in Sundilla, Annaram, Ellampalli, Kondapochamma, and Mallanna Sagar projects before the next rainy season.
As the Challo Medigadda mission unfolded, Party MLAs, Legislative Council members, Members of Parliament, and other leaders departed for Medigadda situated Mahadevpur Mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district of Telangana in special buses from Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. Accompanying them were irrigation experts to provide insights.
The examination of Annaram Barrage will follow the Medigadda assessment, featuring a PowerPoint presentation to counter Congress’s negative propaganda.
The BRS leaders aim to clarify the facts to the public, dispelling misconceptions surrounding the Medigadda barrage built as part of the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
