Date:

In an initiative by the Indian Army, 15 students from the border district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir were taken on an educational tour to South India, fostering exposure to the country’s top academic, technological, and cultural landmarks.

Army said the tour, which took place from December 9 to 15, was aimed at broadening the horizons of these young minds, providing insights into cutting-edge research, and promoting national integration through cultural exchange.

The tour was organised by “Humdard-e-Kupwara” Army’s 41 RR (Maratha Li) under the aegis of 68 Mountain Brigade as part of operation Sadbhavana.

During their visit to Bengaluru, the students explored some of India’s most esteemed educational and corporate institutions. At the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), they engaged in meaningful interactions with scholars, gaining valuable academic insights. At the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), a 115-year-old premier institution, they were introduced to advancements in ecological sciences, materials research, and supercomputing. A highlight was the briefing on PARAM Pravega, a state-of-the-art supercomputing facility at the Supercomputer Engineering & Research Centre (SERC).

They also visited Amazon Development Centre at Baghmare Tech Park which was an amazing gateway into the corporate life.

The visits to HAL Aerospace Museum & Heritage Centre and Visveswariya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) made them gain knowledge on the evolution of Aerospace technology in the India. They also visited Madras Engineer Group (MEG) and Centre, and Parachute Regiment Training Centre (PRTC) of the Indian Army wherein they became privy to the rich history of sacrifice and victory of the Indian Army.

The students also visited M. Chinnaswamy KSCA Stadium and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) which provided them exposure to India’s rich cricketing culture and the infrastructure nurturing future sporting talent.

“The education tour has been a well-balanced trip and has indeed opened windows of opportunities for them towards a better future with a positive perspective and it is hopeful that these young students will be the pioneers of education in Kashmir during upcoming times,” Army said
