Cyclonic circulation over West Central Bay of Bengal off North Coastal AP: Met Centre

The Meteorological Centre here on Sunday reported that the cyclonic circulation over the west central Bay of Bengal, off the north coastal Andhra Pradesh coast at

5.8 km above mean sea level, has now merged with another existing cyclonic system.

According to the daily weather report, the cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and adjoining north Bay of Bengal now lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas, between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height.

Additionally, a trough extends from east Madhya Pradesh to Bangladesh, passing through Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal, up to 1.5 km above mean sea level,

also tilting southwestwards.

Meanwhile, another trough extending from the upper air cyclonic circulation over Marathwada

and its neighbourhood to coastal Andhra Pradesh across Telangana, between 3.1 km and

5.8 km above mean sea level, has become less marked.

The weather office has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh

and Yanam over the next 48 hours.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next five days, and in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next 48 hours.

Gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected at isolated places across coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next five days.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are also likely at a few places or at one or two locations in these regions over the next seven days.

Rainfall was recorded at a few places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and at isolated locations in Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours, the report added.
