Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over distribution of 71,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits under Rozgar Mela and termed it as a “election stunt”.
“PM is distributing 71,000 job letters to ‘mislead’ the voters,” Kharge wrote in a tweet in an apparent reference to the forthcoming Gujarat Assembly polls.
Claiming that 30 lakh posts are vacant in various departments, he said, “Promised to give 2 core jobs per year. Sixteen crore jobs were to be given in 8 years. ‘Election stunt’ only in thousands.”
Recently, Kharge while addressing a party programme here accused the ruling dispensation of not taking any steps to resolve the unemployment issue.
“Modi government is only misleading the people. It has not taken any steps in this direction,” he had said.
The first phase elections in Gujarat elections will take place in 89 Assembly constituencies on December 1 and in the second phase in 93 seats on December 5.
The counting of votes will be held on December 8.
