West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress legislator and former president of the state secondary education regulatory body Manik Bhattacharya appeared before the Enforcement Directorate here on Wednesday, following summons the central agency probing the money trail of the SSC recruitment scam.
Bhattacharya was recently removed from the post of the President of West Bengal Primary Education Board after a court order.
The agency had last Friday conducted search operations at 14 locations in the state related to the alleged scam purportdly related to recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff of primary and secondary government-aided schools.
While former Education minister Partha Chatterjee has been arrested in connection with the alleged scam after overs Rs 21.90 crore in cash besides other valuables from the residence of one of her “close associates”, Bhattacharya’s residence was also among the locations searched.
