Olympian Manu Bhakar’s maternal grandmother and uncle died in a road accident at Charkhi Dadri in Haryana on Sunday.
Police said Bhakar’s uncle Yudhveer, who was working as a driver with Haryana Roadways, was on a scooter with his mother Savitri when a car coming from the wrong side hit their vehicle. Both died on the spot.
Police said the car driver fled the scene after the incident.
Ace shooter Manu Bhakar, a bronze winner at the Olympics, was conferred with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award at the hands of President Draupadi Murmu a couple of days back.
