President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Lokmanthan-Bhagyanagar 2024 at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad on Friday, emphasising the strength of India’s rich cultural diversity and shared heritage.
In her keynote address, President Murmu expressed pride in participating in this significant cultural event for the second time, having earlier joined Lokmanthan in Ranchi in 2018. She described Lokmanthan as a platform that celebrates and strengthens India’s culture, traditions, and unity.
“India’s culture and customs embody unity in diversity,” she said. “We practice this unity, which is our strength and determination. This program highlights our beautiful rainbow nation, where various cultures come together as one.”
President Murmu commended the performances celebrating historical figures like Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani Rudramadevi, and Jhansi Lakshmibai, calling them sources of inspiration. She also applauded the international representation, including participants from Indonesia, for showcasing their cultures.
The President highlighted India’s efforts to revive its heritage and shed colonial influences, citing renaming initiatives like Kartavyapath and Ganatantra Mandap as steps to restore national identity.
“Foreign powers tried to suppress our culture and instill the roots of slavery,” she remarked. “But our people kept traditions alive. Now, it is time to remove those roots and change our mindset for a united and harmonious future.”
Telangana Governor Vishnu Dev Verma emphasised India’s resilience against cultural disruptions and conspiracies, urging unity to carry forward ancient values.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy described Lokmanthan as a cultural Kumbh Mela, where Indian traditions, tribal lifestyles, and environmental solutions are discussed. He underlined the need to integrate tribal wisdom into modern challenges like climate change.
Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka praised Hyderabad’s multicultural essence, calling it “Mini India” and urging collective efforts to make India a global leader.
The event was graced by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Pragya Bharati Convener Hanuman Chowdhury, and other dignitaries, fostering discussions on nationalism, cultural preservation, and unity.
Lokmanthan-Bhagyanagar 2024 stands as a testament to India’s rich heritage, vibrant diversity, and unwavering commitment to unity and progress.
