The Congress and other members of the INDI alliance on Tuesday held a protest at the Makar Dwar of the new Parliament House complex here against the government’s decision to impose GST on health and life insurance and demanded its immediate roll back.
The Opposition leaders during the protest raised slogans and held placards reading “Remove 18% GST from health and life insurance”.
Meanwhile, the Congress, on micro blogging site X, said, “Modi government has increased GST on health and life insurance services in its ‘recovery budget’. Due to this, the public will have to spend more for these facilities. The leaders of INDIA alliance protested in the Parliament premises against this recovery by the Modi government”.
Those participated in the protest included Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar of Nationalist Congress Party, Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav faction, Sudip Bandyopadhyay of Trinamool Congress, DMK’s MK Balu and others.
