Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed that the commissionerate offices in Varanasi and Gorakhpur should be recognised as iconic buildings, and the design of both offices should be prepared keeping in mind that they showcase glimpses of the local culture.
While reviewing the presentation on the new commissionerate and collectorate buildings in Varanasi and Gorakhpur during a high-level meeting, the CM said that, with a focus on the convenience of the public, all offices should be brought together in one place.
He said, “The objective of the Integrated Commissionerate Office is to facilitate easy monitoring of all departments. Having all offices under one roof will save people’s time and effort,” he said.
Yogi said that the commissioner offices in Varanasi and Gorakhpur should be presented as models. “This will convey a positive message to the public,” he said.
He said that the construction of both buildings should be practical and utilise only as much land as necessary for the offices. “Gorakhpur and Varanasi Development Authorities should ensure that both integrated offices have arrangements for conference halls, open offices, cubicles, and storage facilities. These offices should also have facilities for banks, gyms, cafeterias, and parking,” he said.
The CM asserted that once the offices are built, all offices in Gorakhpur and Varanasi should be shifted in a phased manner. He directed the development authorities of both cities to keep commercial and government offices separate in the divisional offices.
He directed the officials to expedite the construction of the twin buildings in both cities. He said that while one building should house all government offices, the other should be used for commercial purposes.
Yogi said that once the new buildings are constructed, any vacant offices resulting from the shift should be monetized for commercial use.
He emphasised that this process should be expedited and that the cooperation of IIT BHU should also be sought for the construction and design of the building in Varanasi. He directed the officials to make adequate seating arrangements for the advocates.
The CM said that there should be proper parking facilities for the public, officers, employees, and advocates, and separate arrangements for entry and exit should be made for them.
