) The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police seized 120 live bullets of 7.65 mm and 8 mm and arrested a youth after he got down from a bus at Esplanade, official sources said on Monday.
The STF had laid a trap following inputs and arrested Ram Krishna Majhi after he got down from the bus at the Esplanade terminus on Saturday evening.
The investigation revealed that the youth was carrying the bullets from Haldia in East Medinipur as he purchased a ticket from Mecheda. However, the police were yet to ascertain where the youth was taking the ammunition.
Sources said the police would produce the youth before a local court and seek his custody for further investigation regarding the source of ammunition and its dispatch point.
