MCOCA case: Delhi Court extends judicial custody of Ex-AAP MLA, others till Apr 23

 A Delhi court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan and others, arrested in the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case, till April 23.

Duty Judge, Jitendra Singh after producing them through video conferencing from jails extended the judicial custody of Naresh Balyan, Ritik alias Peter, Rohit alias Anna, Sachin Chikara, Sahil alias Poli, Vijay alias Kalu and Jyoti Prakash alias Baba.

Government Counsel, through video conferencing and the Investigation Officer ACP Naresh appeared physically before the court and sought four days extension of judicial custody of Sahil alias Poli and Vijay alias Kalu.

The court heard the submissions on behalf of Prosecution and extended the judicial custody of all accused persons till April 23.

The police has registered the case against the organised crime syndicate allegedly run by gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu and recorded the statement of Jyoti Prakash alias Baba, the real brother of gangster Nandu on April 4 under the provisions of MCOCA during the police custody.

In this matter, the Court had granted 60 more days on March 1 to the Delhi Police to complete the investigation against Balyan, who was arrested on December 4, 2024.
